Challenge

In the ever-evolving software industry, a growing tech startup expanded its footprint by creating a North American subsidiary through a series of strategic acquisitions. With aspirations beyond software product offerings, the company aimed to provide comprehensive software solutions and services, directly competing with established players in the US market. Despite prior attempts, the management struggled to implement this broader strategic plan. Seeking a fresh perspective, they appointed a new CEO and enlisted our assistance to navigate the intricacies of this transformative strategy.

Our Approach
Upon our engagement, a rapid diagnostic revealed that while the team was aware of the new strategy, there was a lack of clarity on its practical implementation. Ambiguities surrounded execution, causing confusion among the workforce. Uncertainty permeated the organization as employees grappled with translating the overarching strategy into actionable steps. Interviews during our assessment emphasized the need for a structured roadmap and clear directives to effectively implement the strategic plan.
To address these challenges, we orchestrated a series of in-depth and transparent leadership meetings, akin to townhall sessions. These meetings provided a platform for the leadership team to engage in open discussions, understand the intentions of the plan, and grasp the visionary design our company had crafted. This direct and transparent communication approach fostered a deeper understanding of the strategic vision, ensuring alignment and commitment from the leadership.
In addition to these transparent meetings, we implemented symbolic actions to signify the company's commitment to the new strategic direction. A collaborative initiative, such as a symbolic unveiling ceremony paired with the introduction of a new mission statement, served as tangible representations of the transformative journey. These symbolic actions created a sense of unity and purpose among the workforce, reinforcing the importance of the strategic shift.
Furthermore, we collaborated with the leadership to provide a clear roadmap and guidelines for implementing the strategic plan. Our approach involved effective communication, engaging workshops, and the aforementioned symbolic actions to instill confidence in the workforce. A summit was organized to align the subsidiary's leadership team on the intricacies of the new strategic aim. Leveraging feedback, a cross-functional working group was formed to define and streamline the execution of comprehensive software solutions and services tailored specifically for the US market.

Outcomes

Our intervention resulted in a significant turnaround, with the subsidiary gaining clarity on how to implement the broader strategic plan. Within a short timeframe, the organization began making measurable progress, aligning its operations with the new vision. We were able to help them create plans to support the strategic goals, assign owners and metrics to monitor and hold accountability. Above all, we were able to get buy in from all levels changing the culture for the better.Â
