Challenge


Chicane Consulting was approached by a local small aerospace startup to help them improve a handful of processes as they were eager to depart from traditional process norms within the aerospace industry. They understood that they could leverage themselves to move faster than the competition if their processes also allowed them to move as fast as possible but effectively. Although leaders held diverse perspectives, a unified goal emerged—to cultivate processes adaptable to growth.



 

Our Approach


Initially, the focus was on their prototype development process, A preliminary assessment exposed a reality that effects most new startups—each individual within the organization was executing the process in a distinct manner. The absence of a standardized and mapped-out process meant that employees had developed their own unique approaches, leading to inefficiencies, inconsistencies, and a lack of cohesion.


This revelation became a pivotal point in the collaboration, prompting Chicane Consulting to delve deeper into understanding the unique nuances of the startup's operations. It underscored the urgency not only to streamline the existing process but also to create a foundation for a standardized, adaptable, and growth-friendly approach.


Solution:


Navigating the startup environment, Chicane initiated a comprehensive workshop to delineate the project's scope and to start generating ides. Beginning with fundamental inputs and outputs, ideas were methodically gathered in a creative environment and refined through iterative feedback loops with end-users, ensuring practicality. Once we were able to unify everyone on the smallest process capable of achieving the desired outcomes, clear goals and milestones were then established to provide a transparent roadmap.


Implementation:

Chicane brought the envisioned process to life through visualizations and iterative testing of a mock process. User feedback played a pivotal role in refining the process to create a minimum viable product. Shifting focus to training and change management, Chicane addressed challenges arising from resistance to the perceived advantages of a faster, more fluid process.



 


Outcome


Measurable success became evident through a reduction in IT solution tickets and enhanced process throughputs. The team implemented a structured approach to measure the prototype process by analyzing completion times for each iteration, providing valuable insights into efficiency gains. Beyond operational efficiencies, the solution unexpectedly fostered a more collaborative and innovative workplace culture.
